I have been dreading today and tomorrow's WODs since they were posted on CFNE a week ago..... 1. 2 + 21 Deadlifts Used 135# for DL's and modified HSPU 2. Power Snatch 5 Rep Max TnG: 65# 3. Clean & Jerk 5 Rep Max TnG: 95# Definitely could've have gone at least 10# heavier for both the Snatch & Clean & Jerks- but form was solid with both, so I'm happy with it. I have realized that if I want to be able to continue working out with the amount of volume programmed, for right now, I have to scale the weight back. I'm putting my pride aside and trying to be smart about where I'm at right now. I'm kind of liking the strength at the end of the tough wod's. What do you guys think about it?
I definitely like the strength at the end. I can get the metcon over and then really take my time and really concentrate on form without having a killer metcon hanging over me. I too have decided to swallow the pride and take this programming very serious, my skill and strength won't just come if I do it just for numbers or to look good when I post. Now is the time to put be realistic with the weight and dial in the form and then it is only upwards from there. Besides, good form, especially on the oly lifts = 20#+ over bad form with the same body composition--an inch away from your body can make or break a successful clean or snatch.
The oly lifts are very technical. Better technique does equal more weight. How about those crossfit games. Looked very tough. Taken to the next level for sure. Today's workout: AMRAP 15 "Diane" 1 round plus 21 deadlifts and 19 HSPU. Shoulders had no juice left. Tried kipping hspu, felt ackward. Deadlifts felt pretty good at 225. No snatch. Still gun shy about dislocating shoulder. 5 rep max clean and jerk tng: 145lbs. probably could have gone a bit heavier.
I totally didn't want to do this one. Todd told me to not cherry pick. Diane: 2 rounds plus 16 DL. HSPU were modified, I had my feet hooked on the bar on the squat rack and my hands were about 24 inches from the plane of the bar. I had to break them up so I think it was a good modification. I tried to keep up intensity. Muscles were toast after. DLs were Rx. 5RM Snatch: #90 5RM C&J: 100
