For those crazy people out there who are into self mutilation, just do double unders instead. I can't tell you how many lashings I gave myself while attempting double unders this morning. For the five minutes we worked on them, I successfully (that's being generous on my success comment) completed one. Suzanne and I got lucky though, both our ropes broke so we ditched the lashings and went straight for the wall balls. I caught one wall ball with my face (literally) and I managed to dodge one coming right back at me with Suzanne standing by to watch it all onfold (I chased the ball all the way down the stairs!!). Can't wait to do 150 of them tomorrow....Yeah!
Kris, I totally empathise with you on the lashings you get from those speed ropes. My arms always come out red, the worse was the one time I was dumb enough to do a WOD with DUs barefoot--yeah, won't make that mistake a gain :(.
Nice work on yesterday's WOD Andy, I saw that one and wanted to work it in this week, but you've scared me off a bit :).
I was too optimistic about how I was going to be feeling last night, thought me head was going to es-plode. Feeling a lot better today, will give it ago tonight-hopefully. My parents are in town, so it will probably be a late one.
We are always looking to UT and would like to get back there. I am taking the Patent Bar in a few weeks, so that should open some more doors. Let us know if you go for it and that will just be more incentive to keep looking.
I read a good post yesterday, about Paleo. It was in response to someone asking how to get protein in the morning and post workout, in response one poster said "we are not caveman LARPing." in short, we know that eating clean (read paleo) is very healthy, but it doesn't have to be a religion, especially when self professed "paleo-purests" talk about how they love their almond-flour pancakes smothered in agave syrup--come-on--if you can eat that, I can have a little whey/soy protein :). Live by the principles and you will be healthy, and most important, you will be happy.
Todd- I love the comment about the almond-flour pancakes and agave syrup. During one of CFNE's paleo challenges....Ben Bergeron made the comment that if you have to add the word "Paleo" to it....it's not Paleo- you never say I'm going to eat a paleo apple do you? I thought that was pretty funny! I'll check out those links below. Thanks for all the good info. You always share good stuff! :)
Oh, and for those who are not familiar with LARPing, go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_action_role-playing_game and especially here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=KZ04mfAY2BU.
I think there is a horse at Shelly's house ( lol inside joke). So glad we got to walk away from the double unders maybe tomorrow they will break again lol!
Late post. 2 x 1.5 mile runs. Splits were 12:00 and 12: 03. The original goal was to run 3 miles but got a call right at the 1.5 mile mark so I turned it into 2 1.5 mile runs. Legs felt weak and heavy. In need of a day off. Andy
